Second Second Assistant Director

Himself is on his way home from seeing The Bourne Ultimatum and calls me.

"I think I've found a job in the movie industry I qualify for."
"Oh? What's that?"
"Second Second Assistant Director."

Of course, now I need to know what a Second Second Assistant Director does, so I Google it. A Second Second Assistant Director is "[a]n assistant to the second assistant director; responsible for (among other things) directing the movements of extras." That quoted definition comes from the IMDB Movie Terminology Glossary. Now, I loves me some IMDB for looking up various movies and TV shows and actors, but who knew they had a glossary?

Awww. Tell your husband he definitely does NOT want to be a 2nd 2nd. It's one step above a production assistant and the hours and pay are awful.

What? A 2nd 2nd has many more important responsibilities besides placing background and the dga pay for a 2nd 2nd is quite substantial. A 2nd 2nd actually is the right hand of the 1st AD on set making sure it all happens, and the 2nd AD is responsible for organizing, delegating and facilitating the gathering of and output of information for cast and crew. Managing callsheets etc.
